The Champions of the Fallen

Bok-nok looked about the greeting chamber at the bodies of his friends and the crushed corpse of Edor, one of the Fallen’s Elders. Bok-nok was neither wise as Edor nor as strong but he believed that these Up-Worlders were not the champions the Fallen were waiting for. Bathed in the light o the righteous? They had struck without provocation. Tempered with the righteous hands of the Holy? Edor didn’t know what that meant but it sounded nice and these Up-Worlders seemed ruthless.

Still he would take them to the Elders so that they may be judged against the Word.

Of course first they would have to pass through the Bellows, the tunnels of poison, fire and demons which guarded the Fallens’ home. The Elders all knew the ancient ways as they were as close to the Choosing as any. The Champions were fortold to exorcise the demons from the Bellows to make way for the Barriers to fall. Bok-nok wasn’t sure what it meant; all he knew was that if the Up-Worlders were truly the foretold champions they would live to see the Elders; otherwise they would be just so much meat for the Demon in the pit; Bok-nok knew it was his sacred duty to lead them either way...

“Me knows the way,” he spat out in the words of the Up-Worlders, “come. Safe...”

Only the fates would tell if this was a lie or not...
